22/04/2024 - Statement

Nothing lasts forever.

After 7 years, 38 videos and 2,231 views, it is with every inch of sadness that I formally announce that The Monthly Australian will be discontinued this year.

This is a decision that I have dwelled on for the longest time, and it has become clear that a dream I had as a kid of becoming a star online will not happen, now or probably ever.

I’ve lost interest in creating content like what you saw on The Monthly Australian. The last upload from me was January 15, 2023, 15 months ago. Since then, I have grown and changed significantly as a person, and have learned a lot of things along the way. The things I was interested in when I was posting monthly don’t particularly or necessarily interest or reflect me now, however I do revisit some of those topics every now and again just for old times sake.

Other things like jobs, school and other major commitments meant that actual time for sitting down and making videos was impossible to come by.

In the end, it’s clear to me and everybody that even if I did find the time to sit down and record, the odds are such that it would’ve just been a complete waste of time.

It’s been one hell of a ride, but in the long run, it hasn’t worked out and all the time, energy and passion I spent making these videos for the world to enjoy has amounted to nothing.

I’m really sorry to everyone who was expecting something, but I have absolutely nothing more to give.

In terms of future plans, I don’t want to completely abandon the TMA Reacts idea; I believe the premise is there, but needs some tweaking before being ready to go again.

I am also planning another channel, Created By TMA, dedicated to things like design concepts and general pieces of work I put together, whether that be for school or something else. I can confirm I do have something in the works, so stay tuned for that.

The current TMA channel will be rebranded to TMArchives, and all videos, whether good, bad or jail-worthy, will be kept up or made public and rebranded accordingly, time permitting, of course. This rebrand should be completed by, at worst, the end of the year.

I would like to take the time to thank you all for the love and support over the last 7 years. What began as mere concept art in 2018 turned into a reality 3 years later, and I never would’ve gotten here, and probably would’ve pulled the pin earlier, without you guys; the people who like (and dislike) my videos, the people who subscribed, the people commenting (however awful some of them were).

Bowling legend Pete Weber said upon his retirement that, “Love me or hate me, you watched; that’s all you could do.” I echo that sentiment as I write this.

Thank you all, and I look forward to bigger and better opportunities in the future, knowing that you’re by my side wherever this next venture takes me,

Keep smiling, God bless, and for one last time,

The Monthly Australian,

Signing off.
